And according to Spanish outlet OleTeve, Cavani offered to fight Messi.
They add that Messi’s response was simply: ‘Whenever you want’.
The pair were separated by numerous players, with the likes of Inter Milan’s Diego Godin attempting to diffuse the row.
Cavani was asked about his bust-up with Messi after the game, with the Uruguay ace saying: "It's part of football, Clasicos are like this.
"The truth is that it was at times a game that had friction, there were challenges and things that are part of football, especially of South American [football].
"We take positives from our performance and the fact that we were able to score two goals. We still need to improve but it's good to end the year like this."
Cavani opened the scoring in the first half on Monday night, before Manchester City ace Sergio Aguero equalised in the 63rd minute.
